Professional experience
Studio & Applications at Stacks Bowers
At Stacks Bowers Galleries, I build applications and connect the systems behind a live-auction business. I work primarily with innovations, report through IT infrastructure, and collaborate with the DevOps and development teams.
The problem
Studio equipment, internal applications, and infrastructure each have their own workflows. My role is to connect those pieces and help make existing software easier for the wider development team to understand, deploy, and maintain.
How I approached it
I combine hands-on production experience with application development. In my first two months, I built tools for studio control, database access, digital signage, and inventory audits, while also contributing to on-site hardware installations.
Inside the build
- Built a studio-control application integrating Ross Carbonite, Ross Ultrix, Yamaha CL3, Ross XPression, Ross Tria, and Panasonic PTZ cameras; learned XPression authoring and operation along the way.
- Built an HTTP database proxy that handles SQL operations across database systems including SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL, with authentication, rate limiting, and access controls.
- Created a digital-signage application that combines website-sourced content with internal database information.
- Built an inventory audit tracker for internal workflows.
- Adapted published AI research into WikiSkill, an internal toolkit for evaluating reusable coding-agent skills, as part of my work at Stacks Bowers Galleries.
- Supported on-site IT hardware installations in various locations.
The result
My first two months spanned studio integration, internal applications, and hands-on infrastructure work. An ongoing responsibility is bringing roughly four inherited applications into the development team’s shared technology stack and delivery process, with documentation explaining what each does and how to deploy it.
